Okay, this may not be a profound insight to many but, for me, it is HUGE. Each one of us is a unique entity in all the Universe. And no one can truly know or imitate or be better than the other because of that uniqueness. I like to look at it as if the Universe was this giant jigsaw puzzle where each one of us is a piece – an individual part - of the whole. That puzzle piece, when fully filled out, contributes to the beauty and continuity of the picture. When not filled out, (or when we try to fit ourselves into another’s space) there is a void in ours.
The reason this is so enlightening to me is that it helps me to see, as a longevity and wellness coach, that each person I coach has their OWN path that works for them. My job is to help them to find that path (and therefore eventually not need me)! So often we are told, and believe, that a certain food, exercise, lifestyle, or idea is ‘bad’ or 'good' for us. But when we listen to the experts about what will work for us it is often a crapshoot. What works for me is not necessarily what will work for you. Trying to fit yourself into a pattern that is not your own creates a discord or dissonance in our being. Eventually this discord will show up in dis-ease and eventually disease and decline as we age.
So instead of trying all the different programs and regimens that are out there, in hopes of hitting on what will work for you, why not first go to the source – you – for guidance? The more we can tune in and trust that guidance, the more life force can flow through us unobstructed. And then, of course, the younger, healthier and more vibrant we can become.
Even though the knowledge of our uniqueness is a very basic concept, I find it is profoundly helpful in my being a more effective facilitator for others’ well-being. And to me that’s HUGE!
